October-End Furtling

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

October has been busy! And November is creeping away from me already!!!

Some highlights included finishing my first #ridiculouslylongFALlist entry of the Jelly Roll Rug which was also my One Monthly Goal. It looks great in the entry way of the new house.

While I was able to get out and make progress on the Eerily Elegant fabric line QuiltSmart Midi Bag, it did not quite make it for Halloween. I'll save it to be my purse next October!

The Halloween purse was not done because of a final week of vacation scheduled at the last moment so I could use it up before the end of the year AND Hubby proclaimed that I should design the layout of my new sewing room which had been filled with boxes for over 2 months since we moved in!!! (HORRORS & GASPS)

I had already decided on IKEA Billy Bookcases, but needed the room dimensions to choose the layout. After having also gotten a Cricut Maker this year, I decided that an IKEA Alex wide chest of drawers on castors was in order for her to live on and the supplies to have a home. With the design of 4 bookcases with height extensions and doors and the chest of drawers with castors, I hired the TaskRabbit handyman to put them all together to finish faster. Took 5.5 hour, it was awesome!

In thinking about November, there are a few projects that are priority:
  1. Finish Sewing Room setup and organizing
  2. Cricut fabric cutting practice: Cut the first quilt
  3. Cricut designer for Trixie's sisters
  4. Hand-sew Trixie's twin sisters
  5. Machine sew the Cricut fabric for the practice quilt
  6. Start the AQS QAYG with the October block
  7. For a second hand-sewing project, start on Thomas
Carolina Moore's Cricut Sampler Quilt with my Fabrics from EQ8

Trixie's Twin Sisters unique fabrics

    1. Thanks so much, Sue. I'm loving the room more and more every day. Still need to finish unpacking the boxes with batting and my bead/yarn crafts that I couldn't part with.

  3. Your sewing room set up looks wonderful! And the new rug in the hallway is magnificent! (And is, I'm relieved to see, far away enough from the door that muddy shoes won't step on it - phew!) Thanks for furtling and spreading the word!

    1. Thanks! Luckily, that door has a long entrance so no muddy paws/shoes off the sidewalk. We have "soggy doggy" mats in front of the other doors for the dirt/mud/wet. I love a good furtle!!!
