September-End Furtling

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

I'm a bit at a loss for what happened in September.... so I went back through my photos and found that life took several turns.

The original September One Monthly Goal project was scrapped and returned to the stash. Instead I worked on hand sewing until the Jelly Roll Rug supplies arrived and then I started that.

Life and especially work have been extremely stressful for the last 3 months after 8-months of getting ready to move 950-miles to a more desirable home. So, Hubby got very sick and then I got very sick. Horrendous sinus infection. Snuggling with Kipper the Whippet on the sofa, sniffling, and hand stitching got me through it.

I pushed through the end of the month and finished Trixie and her quilt by 9/30. Then her clothes before the end of the Quarterly Finish-A-Long. It was my first FAL finish since 2018. I'm so proud of myself and making things happen and being able to choose the activities that make be happy and feel good after 11 months without my sewing supplies.

In thinking about October, there are a few projects that are priority:

  1. Jelly Roll Rug for front entrance (example below)
  2. QuiltSmart Halloween Bag
  3. RRQ Dolly Quilt to mail to the guild before their Harvest Luncheon
  4. Start the AQS QAYG with the October block
  5. For a hand-sewing project, start on Thomas

Example Burgundy & Blush Jelly Roll Rug

Eerily Elegant Side Panels

Two of 4 center pinwheel blocks for Dolly Quilt

AQS Kaleidoscope October block

Heather Ross Thomas pressed and sub-cut, ready for precision cutting

I love sewing! How has your month gone?

  1. Trixie is gorgeous! I bet it's been lovely to be able to get all your things back out and start making your new house a home. I hope the sinus infection is the first and last lurgy you and your husband get this winter! Thanks for furtling!

    1. Thanks so much! I love having everything available even if it is still mostly in boxes. With getting really cruddy sick the unpacking process stopped. We will have to pick it up again, but I haven't yet gotten the motivation. Thanks, Helen!!!
