June-end Furtling 2019

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

June has ended (*oh, my that was fast!*) and here's what happened....

On the blog front, my continued participation in Kate's Life in Pieces in the 15-minutes/day stitching is helping me sew more by being really successfully with 26 of 30 days (87%) in June. My goal is to have more than 2 days out of every week (29%) so I'm doing excellent.

Sewing/Crafting:

Primary Quilt Project: Simply Sparkle Bliss

In June, I have gotten the Riley Blake Designs' Simply Sparkle quilt kit featuring Bliss by My Mind's Eye top constructed including custom borders. It turned out almost square at 76" wide by 90" tall, with diagonals only measure 1/2" difference, 117.5" and 118".

Quilt backing is pressed and assembled, need to get this sandwiched so I can FMQ it while we work towards being ready to move at the beginning of next month.

Quilt Leaders/Enders Project: Sunny Days in Pinkerville

The Blue Skies and Sunny Days quilt pattern I won from Sandra Jane Walker of Musings of a Menopausal Melon - mmm! quilts is partially put together as Leaders/Enders of the Simply Sparkle Bliss quilt top

Sewing Progress: Moda Matchboxes Quilt by Hand (ON HOLD)

Left this project on hold so no additional progress. I'm expecting to leave this on hold into August at the earliest. The goal is to take all 9 Moda Matchbox Quilt Kits and create a Quilt-As-You-Go (QAYG) wall hanging.

The next kit, #3, will have to wait until we have relocated.

Kits 4-9 are still in storage but will be kept handy for when I start it up again.

Stuffies and Such: Potential fuzzy friends

Since I have been following the #wooliamgang's adventures on Instagram, I've got a hankering for adding small friends to my life.

Trixie and Thomas from panel by Heather Ross:

Thomas and Trixie from the Windham Fabric Brochure
While traveling for work I took the panel and my Best Press unscented. Used the hotel room iron & ironing board to press the panel to remove all the folds and then fabric scissors to sub-cut out the body and clothing pieces. Tomorrow, July 1st while hubby is in surgery, I will try to precision cut, mark sewing lines, and start hand-sewing these two cuties together.

Trixie Bloem Basket:

For Trixie & Thomas easy traveling, I have purchased both the Bloem Basket pattern by Johanna Weidner and extra fabric:

House Sale Progress:

Our house buyer has come through with everything so we are on track to move out and turn over the keys in early August. We need to get our move out scheduled, hopefully on the schedule by next Friday. Very exciting. Hubby has been AMAZING organizing potential rentals for us in Florida.

Hubby is also extremely enthusiastic about potentially putting an offer on a house before we are in the area. Wish me luck keeping up with him!!!

Health:

Still continuing with trying to follow the food eating advise of Dr. Steven Gundry. I have other food limitations but we continue to enjoy eating The Longevity Paradox Friend Cauliflower 'Rice' recipe.

Tomorrow, on July 1st hubby will undergo an outpatient surgery. I will do my best to work on Thomas, Trixie, and their clothing, but sometimes it's hard for me to do something constructive while waiting, sometimes, I can only read a novel to distract myself when Mr. Bear is under the knife. Any kind suggestions or healing prayers would still be appreciated.

That's about all I've got for now. How was your June?

  3. What a busy month you've had and so many beautiful things made!I especially love the bunnies and think your sparkly quilt is to die for!
I hope your husband's surgery went well and he is getting back to full strength. And a house move on the horizon? How exciting!!! My husband is working really hard so as to be able to take early retirement in a couple of years and I'm hoping for a moving adventure then too! Good luck

    1. Thanks so much, Sue. Surgery went better than expected; I didn't even get to work on the critters. My hubby is retired and agree with you that it's a great time for a moving adventure. Luckily, I work from home most of the time and the company has a big office where we are moving so I can still get IT support for my work computer. Enjoy!!!

  4. I'm relieved to see that surgery went well (sorry I'm so late commenting!) and that the house move is proceeding - how long will it take you to get to Florida once you're packed up? And will you hire a massive van and drive your stuff yourself or will it meet you there?

    Thanks for linking up!

    1. Hey, Helen. Sorry for not moderating your comment sooner. With all the moving out and driving a van with 1/3 our stuff (the valuables) for 3-days then starting work again in a hotel room, it's been crazy in my head and my inbox. Catch up with you more on Instagram as we get settled in. Maybe even a Furtle at the end of August.
