February 2022 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update

February Review / Furtle

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

While the FinishALong organized group was cancelled in 2020 Mini-Archie, one of my favorite online personalities, and his person started hosting a monthly progress link-up: Fettle Those Finishes!

Work in February started reasonably but ended very busy to lead into March. It has gotten more stressful than I anticipated. But life goes on. I will simply back down my sewing goals knowing that I need to take it easy.

How did sewing go?

February Sewing objectives realized and progressed:

1. Continued String and Story's Free Motion Quilting Academy with HollyAnne Knight. Cut and assembled the required sampler quilt top/flimsy center:

I will continue to watch videos and doodle FMQ motifs in both my Rocketbook Orbit and on Doodle pads.

2. Toes in the Sand 2022 Block of the Month - Caught up after receiving the fabrics with both Month 1 and Month 2 Blocks, 2 for the quilt and a practice block in my own fabric choices:

3. Donation Pocket Quilts for HoneyBee Quilters - submitted 5 with 15 more in progress:
A little encouraging message card will go in the pocket on the back. The wooden heart is for illustration as there is one wooden heart sewn in the layers of each pocket quilt.

  1. Love your free motion quilting sampler. I really like how you set the colored squares. Good luck with all your stitching plans.

  2. Your toes in the sand blocks are lovely! I think reducing your sewing goals until work is less busy is a very sensible idea, after all, it’s supposed to help us relax and be fun, not add to workloads and stress! Thanks for Furtling!
