October 2021 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update
October Review / Furtle
As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

While the FinishALong organized group was cancelled in 2020 Mini-Archie, one of my favorite online personalities, and his person started hosting a monthly progress link-up: Fettle Those Finishes!
October has been even crazier busier at work and at home. Personally, I'm going through so many changes around my mental/emotional health.
How did sewing go?
October Sewing objectives realized and progressed:
1. Continued String and Story's Free Motion Quilting Academy with HollyAnne Knight. Made 5 different batches of Homemade Basting Spray to test:
Purchased a Rocketbook Orbit to practice doodling and easily scan:
2. Finished all 3 sizes of my October blocks for Patterns By Jen's 2021 Color Challenge:
5. Completed and submitted my QuiltCon 2022 Windham Fabrics' Artisan Challenge with 4 target fabrics plus acceptable Neutrals:
Full quilt photo (14" x 14"):

6. Geo Grid Quilt from Guild Block Exchange is up on the design wall to sew the blocks together as my Leaders/Enders while finishing putting together the Happy Go Lucky Unicorns quilt since the Easy Breezy pre-cut items are all completed and I haven't taken time to cut any more.

3. Finished making all the pre-cut blocks of Easy Breezy Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville 2020 Leader/Ender Challenge started July 1, 2020. I've designed a replacement doggie quilt for couch snuggling with the 6" blocks. While this EQ8 design version is all the same fabrics, the real deal will be scrappy.
4. Happy Go Lucky Unicorns - Fabric Cafe 3 1-yard fabrics in a roll from 2016. All 18 Pinwheels created and ready for sewing into rows.
Artist's Statement: This original design pieced quilt represents the structure needed for Working From Home, overlaid by the Turbulence of the job and home interruptions. Ghosts of activities cancelled impact the best laid plans after working so hard to try and complete goals. Quilting techniques include Stitch in the Ditch, Free Motion and Ruler Work. The Terry Twist quilting ruler by Sally Terry was used to obtain the swooping stitches. This quilt contains a lot of personal firsts: patchwork original design, micro quilting, ruler work, echo quilting and facing. The Windham Artisan Cotton Challenge Fabrics gave the rich depth needed to express the emotions of this experience.
