15 Minutes To Stitch 2021 - Week 47

I loved participating in Kate's Life in Pieces 15 Minutes to Stitch since 2020 and am a fan of her blog. She's continuously hosted since 2011!

My 2021 goal is to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year.

  • Week 47: 7 of 7 = 100 %
    • 181 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • November: 21 of 21 = 100%
  • 2021: 288 of 325 = 89 %
Completing the week of staycation. Took the time to rest and rejuvenate! Looking forward to the last remaining week in December.

Continued walking Osky on leash in the backyard since he still has 6 steel staples in his side. They come out next week. No running full speed until the staples are removed. And the older dog is on the 3rd of a 9-weeks yeast infection treatment for deep in his ears. He's responding well to the treatment and I'm so glad it only has to be applied once a week. We do it after his weekly bath.

The One Monthly Goal quilt top flimsy is together, the batting and backing were assembled and cut. I've tried the different Basting Sprays made six weekends ago with best success with the String And Story spray diluted by the cheapest Vodka I could find.

Still enjoying listening to YouTubes of Abraham Hicks each night to soothe and reframe my perspective and focus. Had another Hypnosis session which are very helpful in helping me adjust my self perspective.

So, how did the sewing projects go?

Top items with progress:
1) Modern Quilt Guild QuiltCon 2022 Artisan Challenge Quilt (FAL #130) hanging sleeve hand sewn down. Label still needs to be made and hand-sewn to the back:

2) Honey Bee Quilters Guild held the annual Elfin Magic workshop remaining projects not yet done:
2.a) COVID Card Vinyl Pouch - On Hold. Need to do top stitching but focus is currently on FMQ:

2.b) Phone clutch - On Hold. The binding piece in my kit was not long enough to complete, but one of the workshop hostesses will bring more to the December 7th meeting:

3) String and Story Free Motion Quilting Academy
Different basting sprays to test:
  1. S&S HAK Flour paste basting spray with cheap Vodka
  2. S&S HAK Flour paste basting spray with isopropyl alcohol
  3. Washable Glue diluted with water
  4. Washable Glue diluted with cheap Vodka
  5. Washable Glue diluted with isopropyl alcohol

My commitment to doodle on 2 pages/day is going pretty well. With the Rocketbook sitting next to me at night, it's definitely easier.

4) Happy Go Lucky Unicorns quilt purchased in 2016 (FAL #83): Quilt top completed, backing assembled, quilt sandwich made and quilting started:

Picked Aurifil 2510 for quilting thread:

Designed Quilting plan for quilt:

Practiced motifs on String and Story Isopropyl Alcohol diluted spray. The layers stayed together nicely:

Quilting started from the Unicorns and started the first two swirls before running out of bobbin thread:

5) Assembling Geo Grid Quilt from Guild Exchange Blocks (FAL #133) is become the new Leader/Ender project since I had sewn all the Easy Breezy kits made from Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville 2020 L/E pattern. Blocks have been organized on the design wall:

While the seams don't nest everywhere, I've decided to press the block seams left and right in alternating rows. The bottom 2 rows are sewn together. The middle three rows are in progress and will be sewn together for a section.

6) Easy Breezy Leader/Ender quilt for Doggie (FAL #4): all 9 blocks are sewn and all pieces are cut for the flimsy center. Need to sew center together then sew the pieced border and add it. Can't wait to layout the quilt top to determine the scrappy layout.

7) JAX MQG Donation block - Black & White and focus color fabrics selected. I'm going to use the Easy Breezy 6" block as the pattern.

8) JAX MQG Exchange Gift - Need to choose pattern and fabrics
