July 2020 One Monthly Goal and 2020 Q3 FAL Finished

Finished a UFO (unfinished object) on the Ridiculously Long Finish-A-Long list as number 2 AND the July 2020 One Monthly Goal.

The proposed project was #28 on the Link-Up at Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal July Link-up

The Sampler Quilt was started January 8, 2020, but the fabric line was purchased in October 2019. I wanted to test cutting quilt pieces using the Cricut Maker. I still need more practice so I will also do another Sampler Quilt one.

Carolina Moore (CraftMoore)'s Cricut Maker Block of the Week, the Sequel provided the cutting files to cut all blocks and borders by color in one shot. So, this is the one that I did first. The Riley Blake Designs fabric line by Keera Job is called In the Meadow. The plain White and the backing are from stash. After experimenting with soaking and washing this will hang in my office.

Lessons Learned:
  • Leave slightest bit of adhesive showing on the loading end of the mat to keep the fabric from rolling up and shifting (had to recut the 4 green blocks of the plus block background)
  • For white fabric turn off the marking pen, it bleeds through, which is okay for the marking, but not the numbers.
  • Remember the blue washable marking pens turn permanent with heat according to quilters apothecary
  • use sewclean to get the washable marks out quickly. I followed it up with a cold water bath. 4-6 applications of sewclean {Unfortunately SewClean is no longer manufactured}
