So, you've finished the gift you've been working on for the last couple week and you've got a
Ridiculously Long Finish-A-Long list with 38 more items to try and complete by the end of the Quarter, now what?
Figure out which items are important for the month of October from the FAL, One Monthly Goal, & Monthly Color Challenge block of the month?
- QuiltSmart Midi bag with Halloween fabrics
- That means you can wash the Pink Purse which you have been using for a couple years that need a refresher, especially the handles
- So you try to think of the pillow cases in the house and realize you don't want to put a pink & white purse in a green or blue pillow case that may bleed in the wash....
- Muslin Pillow case for washing purses - will be basted closed to wash and then stitches will be removed after
- Using the foot on the machine to stitch the rolled hem closed at the top
- Sew a French Seam to closed the sides
- Use a long piece of Muslin to have the fold at the bottom to avoid French Seam corners
- Monthly Color Challenge Block - Blue Violet
- Cut pieces and sew as leaders/enders when sewing the folds of the Midi bag? Hoping to use the 1/4" of the HP foot which is one of my favorites
- One Month Goal - Purse Hanger Pouch
- Need to pick fabrics and create it. I'm thinking with Fusible Fleece to be able to have it handle the sharp edges of the hanger square
- One of my favorite combos is the fabric for the Freezer Tabletopper so I may use those for this
- Dimensional RRQ Dolly Quilt using fabric provided from Aunt's stash fabrics - due by 11/4 Harvest Luncheon
So, you've got 16 days to finish all these things... What are the first tasks breaking down the projects into manageable steps?
- Cut Muslin to correct size
- Replace sewing thread to match Muslin
- Sew Hemmed tops of Muslin pillow case
- French seam sides of Muslin pillow case
- Set Muslin pillow case aside until ready to use QuiltSmart Midi bag as purse

- Cut apart Midi bag interfacing panels
- Align 27 2.5" squares on each panel & Iron down to adhere
- Select Blue Violet fabrics for block
- Cut Blue Violet pieces
- Match Blue Violet pieces for assembly as leaders/enders
- Cut Dimensional Dolly Quilt pieces
- Press triangle Dimensional pieces
- Match Dimensional Dolly Quilt pieces for assembly as leaders/enders
- Clean Sewing Machine, change needle, & put in the best color for bag & blue violet, maybe a gray
- Use junk piece to start sewing bag folds
- Sew bag folds using BV then Dimensional as the l/e
- Measure/Cut bag lining & flannel matching sewn bag sides
- Assemble bag exterior
- Press flannel to lining
- Assemble bag interior
- Continue making steps to finish the bag & re-evaluate remaining projects finishing steps
