January 2023 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update

 January Review / Furtle

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

To socialize with my online crafty friends I'm linking up with Mini-Archie, one of my favorite online personalities, and his person for the monthly progress link-up from Fettle Those Finishes!

I'm posting my weekly/monthly stats here for linking up once a month with Kate at Life In Pieces. My 2023 goal is to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year, same as 2021 and 2022.
  • Week 1: 7 of 7 = 100 %
    • 69 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 2: 6 of 7 = 86 %
    • 53 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 3: 7 of 7 = 100 %
    • 76 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 4: 6 of 7 = 86 %
    • 61 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 5: 6 of 7 = 86 %
    • 76 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • January 28 of 31 = 90%
  • 2023: 28 of 31 = 90%
January ended with a Stretching seminar with Joe Hippensteel of Ultimate Human Performance. I am so pleased that I went and now have more mobility in my legs, hips, neck, back and shoulders than last month. I highly recommend his training (even from the videos) for anyone who wants to keep themselves limber and even get more flexible.

I still did spend time sewing. How did sewing go?

1) Living Room Pillow Form (2023 Project #5):

Pillow form, if anyone has a good way to make one when the pillow case is already known, please reply I had to guess and it's a little loose.

  1. Wow, what a month you’ve had! The list is looking very promising with finished cells coloured green already and all your finishes look wonderful. I’m pleased your stretching session went well and the videos are helping you feel better. If it helps, I always buy/make a cushion inner which is the next size up from the cover it’s for, so a cushion cover 18” x 18” has an inner of 20” x 20”. Thanks for Furtling and Fettling and hooray for finishes *waves pompoms*

    1. Thank you so very much! Yes, I didn't realize I should make the inner bigger than the cover! *admires pompoms*

    2. I find it fills the cover out nicely. A way to do the equivalent now would be to press the cover flat, pin and then sew 1/2” (or whatever you fancy) all the way round the edge (turning at the corners rather than going to the edge) to create a false binding/flange type affair. It’s really effective and might be just the thing for your lovely cushion.
