15 Minutes To Stitch 2021 - Week 42

I loved participating in Kate's Life in Pieces 15 Minutes to Stitch since 2020 and am a fan of her blog. She's continuously hosted since 2011!

My 2021 goal is to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year.

  • Week 42: 7 of 7 = 100 %
    • 78 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • October: 17 of 17 = 100%
  • 2021: 253 of 290 = 87 %
Work is focused on a few top priority projects right now.

I'm still following my own pace for String And Story's Fall 2021 Free Motion Quilting Academy with micro-FMQ stippling and loopy meander on my MQG Challenge entry. I will continue with a little doodling this week. HollyAnne Knight has given me the courage to really go for broke with my quilting.

I have ordered a Rocketbook to try doodling in an environmentally friendly way. Also, I love writing notes and wanted an easy was to scan those and store them easily. I tried the free download pdf and linked my Rocketbook account to several storage systems and it all worked great. The only concern that I have is having Frixion pens that work consistently.

I'm hoping to try the different Basting Sprays made two weekends ago. I need to cut the batting to sit between the already pressed Fat Quarters. Have to finish that MQG entry first.

Continuing to work on who I want to be and forming my habits from the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, Still following Dr. Mindy Pelz YouTubes and The Menopause Reset book to help feel good. I have questions about how to determine who I want to be. And changes to be made.

So, how did the sewing projects go?

Top items with progress:
1) Modern Quilt Guild QuiltCon 2022 Artisan Challenge - Completed the custom quilting plan of Free Motion and Rulerwork. Started creating the facing instead of traditional binding. This quilt will not be shown until after the MQG submission process. Here are the focus fabrics for the Challenge:

This is one shape being used is the Terry Twist Ruler by Sally Terry

2) PBJ Monthly Color Challenge - 3 October Blocks: Pulled out the fabric for these blocks

Lil'Trixie will have to wait until it's time to get all the October blocks sewn. Reference photo from June of the first 6 blocks:

3) String and Story Free Motion Quilting Academy
Going to try a few different basting sprays to test:
  1. S&S HAK Flour paste basting spray with cheap Vodka
  2. S&S HAK Flour paste basting spray with isopropyl alcohol
  3. Washable Glue diluted with water
  4. Washable Glue diluted with cheap Vodka
  5. Washable Glue diluted with isopropyl alcohol

I am making a commitment to doodle on 2 pages/day going forward.

4) Happy Go Lucky Unicorns quilt purchased in 2016: All HST's to make the remaining 35 pinwheels made. I'm going to use this quilt to practice my early FMQA motifs to finish it.
