November 2024 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update

November Review / Furtle

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

To socialize with my online crafty friends I'm linking up with Mini-Archie, one of my favorite online personalities, and his person for the monthly progress link-up from Fettle Those Finishes!

Continuing weekly stats here for possibly linking up once a month with Kate at Life In Pieces. My 2024 goal was to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year, same as 2021, 2022 and 2023. Now, I no longer have this goal since I've got an almost 5-month old puppy. I want as much time with him to enjoy our time together.
  • Week 44: 3 of 7 = 43 %
    • 11 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 45: 5 of 7 = 71 %
    • 14 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 464 of 7 = 57 %
    • 17 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 474 of 7 = 57 %
    • 22 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 484 of 6 = 67 %
    • 22 minutes/day average across 2-days
  • November 17 of 30 = 57 %
  • 2024: 295 of 335 = 88%
November continues to be is all about the Puppy and our family! Sewing is on the back burner to play and enjoy this time of growth for our family. Fitting in a few minutes of sewing does help me keep sane so I am trying to put a few minutes in. For 2025, I'll be removing the 15-minute minimum as sometimes I only have 5-minutes and make it count!

Focus will continue more slowly on my projects planned this year out in my Furtle post HERE.

Projects Half Done Progress update:

There were 46 projects already started before January 1, 2024. The below screenshot of my projects from the spreadsheet provided (and a little expanded) by QuiltingGail is my 'official' list with reference numbers used throughout the year.

As of November 30th, 20 projects have been completed (Blue Highlight), 2 UFO and 18 new projects. 3 project completed this month (Green Highlight on completion Date), 0 UFO's and 3 new project. 3 projects progressed this month (Pink Highlight), 2 UFO's and 1 new project.

How did sewing go?

November Projects Completed:

1) The vinyl dust cover for Hubby's magnifier light was the selected project of the 2 proposed options for November. It’s a simple D-shape with Velcro sewn to the strap ends. Magnifier Lamp Dust Cover is 2024 Project 29 completed in 0-hours and 47-minutes.  This completes the November 2024 One Monthly Goal

2) Guild Holiday Party's blue and white 9.5" Ohio Star block for the lottery. 1 ticket per block in the drawing, winner takes all blocks brought to the party in early December. HoneyBees 2024 Holiday Lottery Block is 2024 Project 33 completed in 2-hours and 14-minutes.

3) First project from Honeybees Quilt Guild winter holiday workshop, Elfin Magic 2024, Best Square Basket You Can Sew is 2024 Project 34 completed in 2-hours and 57-minutes.

November Projects Progressed:

1) Smitten2 BOM through Month 9 (2024 UFO 7) Block 5D was attached this month. Next up is adding the second side-setting Triangle from Month 4 on the right end. Love that blocks 5A and 5D are the same pattern with different colors. I did rotate the right small hexagon to split up the light colored fabrics

2) Easy Breezy twin size, Quiltville's 2020 Leader/Ender pattern (2024 UFO 4) - now have 67 blocks of the 180 needed for UFO, additional kits are in progress and the most recent ironically matches the Blue and White of the Holiday Party Lottery Block.

3) Started the next project from the Elfin Magic winter workshop, "Tree" Mendous Mug Rug, 2024 Project 35:

November Stats:

  • 3 Completed
  • 3 Progressed
  • 44 UFO's remaining
  • 13 2024 started projects remaining
What did you get done in November?

  1. You’ve done loads this month! All that progress whilst training a puppy and caring for an adult dog too. I love the dust cover for the magnifier lamp, it looks like it’s wearing a sun visor! The blocks look lovely and the basket looks like it was fun to make and will be useful. Thanks for Furtling!
