October 2024 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update

October Review / Furtle

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

-Janine at Rainbow Hare on 2/28/2019

To socialize with my online crafty friends I'm linking up with Mini-Archie, one of my favorite online personalities, and his person for the monthly progress link-up from Fettle Those Finishes!

Continuing weekly stats here for possibly linking up once a month with Kate at Life In Pieces. My 2024 goal was to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year, same as 2021, 2022 and 2023. Now, I no longer have this goal since I've got an almost 4-month old puppy. I want as much time with him during this crucial stage as possible. AND as of October 4th, Walgreens pharmacy confirmed that I had COVID with my symptoms lasting for 11 days. My symptoms and my husband's included residual exhaustion.
  • Week 40: 3 of 7 = 43 %
    • 12 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 41: 5 of 7 = 71 %
    • 26 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 424 of 7 = 57 %
    • 16 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 436 of 7 = 86 %
    • 32 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 443 of 4 = 75 %
    • 10 minutes/day average across 2-days
  • October 20 of 31 = 65 %
  • 2024: 278 of 305 = 91%
October is all about the Puppy! Sewing is on the back burner to play and enjoy this time of growth for our family.

Focus will continue more slowly on my projects planned this year out in my Furtle post HERE.

Projects Half Done Progress update:

There were 46 projects already started before January 1, 2024. The below screenshot of my projects from the spreadsheet provided (and a little expanded) by QuiltingGail is my 'official' list with reference numbers used throughout the year.

As of October 31st, 17 projects have been completed (Blue Highlight), 2 UFO and 15 new projects. 1 project completed this month (Green Highlight on completion Date), 0 UFO's and 1 new project. 3 projects progressed this month (Pink Highlight), 2 UFO's and 1 new project.

How did sewing go?

October Projects Completed:

1) New CallMe for Mr. Hubby Bear. He's got a new larger phone and wanted a pen holder to be added behind the elastic pocket. 2024-Sid Custom CallMe v3 is 2024 Project 27 completed in 8-hours and 0-minutes. This completed the October 2024 One Monthly Goal. I'm quite pleased with these results. These Tula Pink fabrics are some of my favorites from my stash.

October Projects Progressed:

1) Smitten2 BOM through Month 9 (2024 UFO 7) Block 5D is completed, pressed and installation in the flimsy has started. Here's the completed block.

2) Easy Breezy twin size, Quiltville's 2020 Leader/Ender pattern (2024 UFO 4) - now have 66 blocks of the 180 needed for UFO, additional kits are in progress but no new photos.

3) Smitten2 completed MS Word trackers for Months 16 (2024 Project 10). Bottom row of the Pink Door Fabrics 2023 BOM:

October Stats:

  • 1 Completed
  • 3 Progressed
  • 44 UFO's remaining
  • 13 2024 started projects remaining
