One Monthly Goal - October 2020 Proposed

Time to continue with a One Monthly Goal, too bad I didn't finish September's goal. If you want to join-in head over:

My October goal is to complete the September ambitious goal: finish the oldest UFO, Bandanna and Jeans quilt started on May 17, 2015. Here's the picture from 2015 with all the Bandannas washed, dried, pressed and sewn together:

Now, there are only 4 more Bandannas that need to be prepared (flannel layer, folded, measured, denim cut and pinned in place) then sewn. It will be a few more hours yet to get all the steps done.

This is what the bottom of the quilt looks like with the denim squares:

And the top of the quilt where the center diagonals are assembled and sewn; with a little Quality Assurance testing from my friends (SirT, Horsey, Sunny, Trixie & hAPi):

Remaining steps:
  1. For final 4 Bandannas:
    1. Glue Flannel squares onto Bandanna corners on the back to keep in place for sewing
    2. Fold Bandannas around Flannel
    3. Cut Jeans squares to fit inside folded Bandanna backs (final one has label stitched out)
    4. Pin Jeans squares and folded Bandannas in place
    5. Stitch Flannel edges, Bandanna folds, and Jeans squares in place
  2. Take photos, IG post, and Blog post completed quilt
  3. Use quilt for next dog chiropractic appointment outside on the patio so everyone is not on a rough surface.
I have learned that each Bandanna preparation takes 20-minutes and sewing each Bandanna takes 30-minutes. That is without anything extra, like playing tug with my Whippet, Osky, or changing the thread between colors for matching. It will take at least 3-hours and 20-minutes to finish the above steps.

  1. Good luck in getting this long-simmering project finished! I am partial to bandannas -- so many different patterns!

    1. Thanks so much, Nann! Aren't Bandannas so fun and interesting? I have a 2nd set of Bandannas in another color set for a different quilt. I am thinking no denim so it's a little lighter.
