Fettle Those Finishes 2025 Year End Review

2025 Fettle Those Finishes review

I'm linking up with one of my favorite online personalities Mini Archie the Wonder Dog and his person Helen to review how the planning for 2025 matched what was actually accomplished. If you want to join in for 2026 we're sharing our lists and encouraging each other on the Linky parties.

2025 continued tracking using a single sheet to track both UFO's and new starts; this is based on the UFO tracker by Gail at QuiltingGail.com. The focus is better using this method:

Blue highlighted projects were completed in 2025. Green highlighted dates were completed in December. Pink highlighted projects were progressed in December.

3 UFO projects were completed in 2025. 17 new starts were completed in 2025. I am so pleased with the these accomplishments in 2025. So many new types of projects and so much learning. Each monthly furtle post have pictures of items completed that month:
For 2025 there was a focus list planned, so let's review:
  1. DONE: Ottoman Topper
  2. IN PROGRESS: Zip It Up
  3. DONE: Mailbox Cover
  4. DONE: Elfin Magic project 4:Storage Pod
  5. DONE: Fold Fabric: progress milestone - not getting a project number
  6. MADE PROGRESS: Easy Breezy Twin: Cut half fabric on shelf to make more kits
  7. DONE: Elfin Magic project 5: Hemingway Pouches

  13. PBJ 2021 BOM: Flimsy

New 2025 projects that I didn't have an understanding or supplies for at the beginning of the year:

  1. IN PROGRESS: Embroidery 101 monthly homework monthly project starting January 2025
  2. Guild blocks
  3. QOV 2025 block, not sure if I will make one
  4. ATTENDED & PROGRESSED: HB April - Abstraction Workshop
  5. ATTENDED & PROGRESSED: JM March - Pet Collage Workshop

In 2025, I had hoped to finish ONE quilt for September's QuiltFest, the person-sized Patterns By Jen 2021 Color Challenge BOM quilt inspired to be a large size of the Doll quilt. The partially completed flimsy and small blocks are still on the design wall behind the sewing machine.

2025 was challenging. Wiki's first full year was entertaining and sometimes I struggled to take him outside to play Frisbee in the backyard/garden. We keep 10 Frisbees of 3 different soft types to keep the young man running back and forth as much as possible. He's the best snuggler we have every had. He is also the smallest Whippet we've ever had. Osky was very sick from July through November, we haven't totally resolved this, but he's acting back to normal. And December ended with me and hubby both having influenza for 2-weeks.

I haven't figured out what was my favorite finish, but probably finishing both this year's and last year's Elfin Magic projects. It's so satisfying to have all those projects completed and no UFO's remaining from those workshops.

How did you do in 2025?
