January 2025 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update
January Review / Furtle
As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

Projects Half Done Progress update:
There were 52 projects already started before January 1, 2025 (up from 46 in 2024). The below screenshot of my projects from the spreadsheet provided (and a little expanded) by QuiltingGail is my 'official' list with reference numbers used throughout the year.
As of January 31st, 1 project has been completed (Blue Highlight), 1 UFO and 0 new projects. 1 project completed this month (Green Highlight on completion Date), 1 UFO and 0 new projects. 4 projects progressed this month (Pink Highlight), 3 UFO's and 1 new project.
How did sewing go?
January Project Completed:
1) Ottoman Topper is 2025 UFO 52 completed in 4-hours and 18-minutes. This first finish of 2025 was a project originally envisioned differently back in 2017. On vacation during the end of 2024 I had a flash of inspiration when the old tablecloth being used to keep dirt off my chair’s ottoman seemed to be getting too ratty to use. The design revision started before the old Heat Press died. Since I wanted to press the fabrics before cutting, all the supplies sat for over a week waiting for a new heat press then finishing a milestone of another project before the topper progress could continue. The back is flannel fabric so it has a little bit of friction with the ottoman fabric. You can see the meandering quilting on the backing side. There is no batting/wadding. The cover's top fabric was also used as the backing for Kipper’s couch cuddle quilt which I still use in his memory.
January Projects Progressed:
4) Sue Spargo Needle Roll is 2025 Project 1. Instead of using all the wool pieces, I'll be using the scraps from the Moon Garden Zip It Up.
January Stats:
- 1 Completed
- 4 Progressed
- 51 UFO's remaining
- 1 2025 started projects remaining

ReplyDeleteThank you so very much, Sharon!
DeleteGood work. I always forget that the EPP units don't have seam allowances. It's good though, it makes me slow down and think.
ReplyDeleteHello, Anne-Marie. What you do mean "don't have seam allowances"? My templates have a 3/8-inch seam allowance for wrapping around the paper. The folding/stitching line is marked on the Pink Door Fabrics templates so I can match the pattern to that line instead of the cutting lines. I'm so proud of 5B it turned out better than I expected! Thanks for hosting!!!
