15 Minutes To Stitch 2022 - Week 2

I loved participating in Kate's Life in Pieces 15 Minutes to Stitch since 2020 and am a fan of her blog. She's continuously hosted since 2011!

My 2022 goal is to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year, same as 2021.

  • Week 2: 7 of 7 = 100 %
    • 74 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • January 8 of 9 = 89 %
  • 2022: 8 of 9 = 89 %
Continuing to tweak my interpretation of living based on Abraham Hicks YouTubes. And continuing to practice from the book Chatter talking about "Dawn's emotions" at work to keep me from getting lost in overwhelm.

Kipper's ear treatments have finished. This is the first week of no oily goop in the ears after 9 weeks of treatment. He was very pleased about that, but not that today still included a bath. We shall see what impact this has.

So, how did the sewing projects go?

Top items with progress:
1) String and Story Free Motion Quilting Academy
Different basting sprays tested:
  1. S&S HAK Flour paste basting spray with cheap Vodka
  2. S&S HAK Flour paste basting spray with isopropyl alcohol
  3. Washable Glue diluted with water
  4. Washable Glue diluted with cheap Vodka
  5. Washable Glue diluted with isopropyl alcohol

The Isopropyl Spray Baste and Vodka Spray Baste have both been used up. I should write up a blog and share my experiences to Facebook Quilt Guild groups.

It's time to continue pushing forward with Unit 2 motifs this week. I need to FMQ a practice sandwich with Paisleys.

2) Rock candy Table Topper from 2020 Journey 2 Nebula by Jaybird Quilts - Binding is attached, Label text is stitched out and ready for hemming then hand-sew finishing touches:

3) Rotary Sharpening with the True Sharp 2 electric sharpener did not go well. In over 5-minutes of sharpening the blade I was attempting to sharpen only got better in spots, but it seemed like the stones were touching all around the blade perimeter. I will probably send it back as it's not working well enough for the price.

  1. The basting spray experiment seems a bit intimidating, but those look cheaper than 505. Great progress on your stuff!

    1. I've actually finished all the homemade basting sprays. They worked wonderfully and without that sticky air created by 505. I do need to write up my experience.

  2. Hooray for no ear treatment! That blade sharpener sounds very disappointing, now I understand why Mini Archie was asking if I had one or was planning to order one and why I shouldn’t bother! I hope they don’t quibble over the refund x

    1. Kipper is very happy with no more ear treatments. It was so very disappointing to not have sharper blades. There is a family that resharpens them in the USA so I will try sending them blades and getting their sharpened ones back in return. It is more time than I am willing to spend to sharpen blades manually with 30+ twists or strokes. They are being accommodating with the refund as the sharpening oil spilled out half the contents also. We are being made whole here.

  3. The Rock Candy table topper is gorgeous! Congrats on that finish. You've gotten off to a good start for 2022. Happy stitching this week.
