15 Minutes To Stitch 2022 - Week 1

I loved participating in Kate's Life in Pieces 15 Minutes to Stitch since 2020 and am a fan of her blog. She's continuously hosted since 2011!

My 2022 goal is to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year, same as 2021.

  • Week 1: 6 of 7 = 86 %
    • 208 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • December 31 of 31 = 100%
  • January 1 of 2 = 50 %
  • 2021: 326 of 365 = 89 %
  • 2022: 1 of 2 = 50 %
Continuing to tweak my interpretation of my in the moment ability to deal with my feelings based on Abraham Hicks YouTubes. Hubby lent me his current book, Chatter by Ethan Kross which has helped me deal with so many losses within one week: one of dog chiropractor's preemie twin girls (I was identifying with them as my sisters are twins), 103 year old Grandmother, Bug (the oldest dog of my Whippet Sweater Knitting friend who received the Unicorn quilt and other gifts) and Betty White at age 99. Being able to distance myself from being immersed in misery has helped me so much just in the last hour. Specifically during the 15-mins of my shower when explored "Dawn's emotions" instead of my emotions. Ah, I'm feeling soothed and much better. Hoping for a good night's sleep.

Kipper's ear treatments have reached the 9th and final week of deep treatment for a yeast infection that has plagued him for years. He's responding well to the treatment and I'm so glad it only has to be applied once a week. We do it after his weekly bath on Sundays. One side effect is that he's a bit deaf for the majority of the week. Or is he just ignoring me as usual since Mr. Hubby Bear is he person?

So, how did the sewing projects go?

Top items with progress:
1) Honey Bee Quilters Guild held the annual Elfin Magic workshop remaining projects not yet done:
1.a) Phone clutch binding applied to finish. This has a combination of bias binding around the corners and straight binding making up one side as that was all the fabric remaining, PHEW!

1.b) Second set of Elfin Magic projects Phone Cluches, 2 were in the box by mistake so I made both:

1.c) Second COVID card Vinyl pouch:

2) String and Story Free Motion Quilting Academy
Different basting sprays to test:
  1. S&S HAK Flour paste basting spray with cheap Vodka
  2. S&S HAK Flour paste basting spray with isopropyl alcohol
  3. Washable Glue diluted with water
  4. Washable Glue diluted with cheap Vodka
  5. Washable Glue diluted with isopropyl alcohol

The Isopropyl Spray Baste and Vodka Spray Baste have both been used up. I should write up a blog and share my experiences to Facebook Quilt Guild groups.

It's time to continue pushing forward with Unit 2 motifs this week. I need to FMQ a practice sandwich with Paisleys.

3) Seaside Table Runner from 2020 Journey 2 Nebula sponsored by Jaybird Quilts - has been finished including soaking and washing to eliminate any excess dye and in the Living room near the matching Jelly Roll Rug:

4) QuiltCon 2022 Windham Fabrics' Artisan Challenge quilt is now labeled and hung in my office. I can see it from my desk and it makes me smile.
