September 2024 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update

September Review / Furtle

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

-Janine at Rainbow Hare on 2/28/2019

To socialize with my online crafty friends I'm linking up with Mini-Archie, one of my favorite online personalities, and his person for the monthly progress link-up from Fettle Those Finishes!

Continuing weekly stats here for possibly linking up once a month with Kate at Life In Pieces. My 2024 goal was to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year, same as 2021, 2022 and 2023. Now, I no longer have this goal since I've got an almost 3-month old puppy. I want as much time with him during this crucial stage as possible. AND as of October 4th, Walgreens pharmacy confirmed that I have COVID with my symptoms on day 4. I got prescriptions and hints for home remedy help from my doctor's office. Today, October 11th is a better day.

September started all about completing 2 quilts due on the September 7th for the 2024 QuiltFest show. And on September 6th, we received the opportunity to add a new Whippet Puppy to our household. We prefer to have 2 and had been missing a pieces of our hearts when Kipper died earlier this year.

Focus will continue more slowly on my projects planned this year out in my Furtle post HERE.

Projects Half Done Progress update:

There were 46 projects already started before January 1, 2024. The below screenshot of my projects from the spreadsheet provided (and a little expanded) by QuiltingGail is my 'official' list with reference numbers used throughout the year.

As of September 30th, 16 projects have been completed (Blue Highlight), 2 UFO and 14 new projects. 4 projects completed this month (Green Highlight on completion Date), 1 UFO's and 3 new projects. 8 projects progressed this month (Pink Highlight), 3 UFO's and 5 new projects.

How did sewing go?

September Projects Completed:

1) 2024 QuiltFest Challenge quilt inspired by the show theme “Sew Your Heart Out” won an Honorable Mention ribbon. My first QuiltFest ribbon in my 3rd entry year. Quilter of Hearts is 2024 UFO 3 completed in 115-hours and 11-minutes with 3 required fabrics, measuring tapes, lime green grunge and orange bubbles with notions. Three hearts and embellishments were also required. The perimeter must total less than 120 inches. I entered the annual Challenge this year because one of my guilds was the hostess for the show. Our guild designed and made the Ribbon Toppers. Thanks to @archiewonderdog for all the secret guidance, support and suggestions to make this quilt so amazing!!!

2) Unquilted and requilted part of Hercules and Natalie's quilt to put it in the show

3) Owner Label for the Guild made opportunity quilt that I won and provided to hang in the Mezzanine (Diamonds, second from the right):

4) Soaked, washed and lint rolled the Port In A Storm At Sea quilt:
