August 2023 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update

August Review / Furtle

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

To socialize with my online crafty friends I'm linking up with Mini-Archie, one of my favorite online personalities, and his person for the monthly progress link-up from Fettle Those Finishes!

I'm posting my weekly/monthly stats here for linking up once a month with Kate at Life In Pieces. My 2023 goal is to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year, same as 2021 and 2022.
  • Week 32: 7 of 7 = 100 %
    • 89 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 337 of 7 = 100 %
    • 103 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 347 of 7 = 100 %
    • 95 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 357 of 7 = 100 %
    • 84 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • Week 36: 4 of 4 = 100 %
    • 100 minutes/day average across 5-days
  • August 31 of 31 = 100 %
  • 2023: 231 of 243 = 95%
August has continued the busy streak. The Quilt Guild Party on August 1st was a wonderful event and the committee I chaired did a great job. Work has continued to be a push and I'm so thrilled with how things are turning out with the extra project for a demanding client.

I'm feeling relieved by reducing my commitments to quilt guild challenges. I've been able to focus more on the projects I wanted this month. It was my husband's Birthday month and I wanted to make a few fun things for him.

I am receiving so much benefit by daily using the stretching protocol for focusing on Facia rather than muscles. This YouTube by an Olympic coach has reduced my hip, knee and foot facia pain just by stretching 15-20 minutes/day. Also following the Menopause Reset by Dr. Mindy Pelz with fasting is going so much better. Husband and I have also added homemade fermented dairy (yogurt) with 3 different strains suggested by Dr. William Davis in his book Super Gut. We are both feeling much better.

I am so lucky that I spent at least 15-minutes sewing every day in August. How did sewing go?

August Projects Completed:

1) Patterns By Annie CallMe 2nd customized for my husband to start off his birthday month. He asked for the zipper pocket be larger than the original and to also have the quilted pocket instead of the vinyl. 2023 Project number 42 completed in 6-hours and 16-minutes. The binding is different so he can easily tell the difference between the original and this second one.

2) Patterns By Annie CallMe 2nd one for me with Navy and White to go with my Blue work outfits. 2023 Project 43 was completed in 4-hours and 40-minutes:

Small scraps set aside for other donation projects were used to make this 12.5"x12.5" block. JAX MQG Aug/Sept block is 2023 Project number 47 completed in 1-hour and 45-minutes.

  2. You are doing fantastically well with your weekly stats and getting lots of great projects made. All those pouches/bags look great and I love your EPP blocks. I was very interested to read all the timings you recorded for making things. I always drastically underestimate how long it takes to do things. Good luck with your September goals :)

    1. Thank you! I love having records of how long each project takes. I use the same free time tracking app (Toggl Timer) for work projects (time tracking for the week requires each client project billed accurately) and sewing projects. Good luck with September sewing!!!
