June Review / Furtle

Archie The Wonder Dog

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

I'm starting this post towards the beginning of June so I can add things as I finish them. I am finally done with 2 gift swaps and want to focus the final month of the quarter to my Finish-A-Long projects without adding new things (please?). Oopsy, found the AQS free paper piecing Dancing Ribbons sew-a-long.

1. Florida Flamingo with background pattern by Paper Panache. This Flamingo headed to the UK represents my first year in Florida also pink was my Dad's favorite color and my swapee reminded me of some things about my Dad. The pink fabrics are from my Aunt's box of quilting goodies that she sent me after 'the great closet clean-out'. So this was a work of love. The sky, water, and dark grass are hand dyed fabrics by Marjan Kluepfel from a class (quilt not yet done). This all worked out as I wanted and I was so pleased to ship it off.

2. Tula Pink Bumble mug rug from Free Motion Quilting test sample from 2016

3. Over the shoulder pouch for Hubby, same fabrics as the over the neck pouch but a longer strap and my label:

4. Neck pouch for me, also on the Finish-A-Long Q2 list as #121: The pink parallelogram fabric was in my birthday Fat Quarter swap and I love it!!!

5. Wigwam for Camping

6. Trixie Dungarees were finished quickly with a combination of both machine and hand sewing

7. Happy surprise, Mancuso used my 2018 silk quilt, Parasols in their email promotion for the June Online Quilt Festival

8. Patterns By Jen's 2020 Monthly Color Challenge both June blocks, both blues were also in the Birthday swap Fat Quarters received

8. JAX MQG Block of the Month catch-up: #5, #6, & #7

9. 2 of 4 batik fabrics cut for the Honey Bees Quilt Guild monthly exchange from April (orange) and May (blue):

  1. A Furtle-As-You-Go post, what a great idea! And what a busy and productive month June was! I love that flamingo, the recipient is going to be thrilled! The pouches look fab, as does the bee mug rug, but the things which have stolen my heart are the wigwam and Trixie’s dungarees! Hooray for finishes! *waves pompoms*
