One Monthly Goal - October 2026 Completed
Successfully completed October's goal! If you want to see everyone else's one monthly goal projects head over to the link-up:
For October there were 3 goals of importance. First, finish the Geeky Bobbin's Orbital Quilt flimsy after the October 3rd Zoom workshop with the local Modern Quilt Guild. Second, prepare the Background for the other Guild's workshop making Christa Quilt's Beaded Lanterns. Third, make progress on at least one of the seven projects stuck on my pressing station since I no longer have any storage left in my sewing room and I refuse to expand past the walls.
Goal 1: Orbital Quilt Flimsy
Finished my Orbital Quilt flimsy from the Geeky Bobbin's Introduction to Curves online class and I’m so proud. The PreQuilt coloring included with the pattern was a great way to pick fabrics from my stash. Sandwich and quilting will have to wait; I have some ideas but need time to listen to the quilt before starting. Geeky Bobbin’s Orbital Mini is 2026 Project 19 in progress for 20-hours and 4-minutes.
Goal 2: Prepare Background for Beaded Lanterns
This did not go as expected, but I am calling this goal accomplished because I have the cut lantern pieces AND the final selection of the background fabric in my possession which was not the case when the month began. The light blue color did not have enough contrast to the brightly colored lantern pieces I received. After consulting with Mr. Hubby Bear, who has a good eye, we chose a dark tone-on-tone blue and it arrived the day before the guild's workshop. I had already NOT signed up for the workshop and will delay cutting this until after the other higher priority items are progressed. One complaint in the workshop was that it was very straightforward and perhaps a little 'boring' to assemble. In that case, I'm going to use this as a leader/ender assembly with a gift quilt that I want to get sent off before winter. Beaded Lanterns is 2026 Project 20 in progress for x-hours and y-minutes.
Goal 3: Pressing Station Projects Progress
It didn't go the way I expected, but the AQS sew along is no longer on the list. After the reveal of the Quilted placemats or optional simple quilt, the project was no longer of interest and has now been cancelled. That removes it from the list.
HOWEVER! The Quilt Store, Cut Up & Sew in Palm Coast, Florida had a series of workshops by Nina Clotfelter and I got into the 4th and final one, Quilting in Negative Spaces. This is of great interest to me after the Abstraction Quilt Top was finished and I didn't know how to come up with a quilting plan to finish it. The class was fabulous, but I now have a practice piece to finish (LOL). I am so happy with how the 5-hour class improved my vision and confidence. Thank you, Nina!!! Nina Clotfelter's Quilting in Negative Spaces workshop sample is 2026 Project 28 in progress for 14-hours and 4-minutes.
