December 2025 Furtle - Fettle Those Finishes Update

As defined by Mini Archie, ‘Furtling’ means ‘having a rummage, a delve, a look at the contents of something’. So I have furtled around to see what I have been doing this month and now I’m going to furtle around the blogs of anyone else who links up over at Archie the Wonder Dog!

To socialize with my online crafty friends I'm linking up with Mini-Archie, one of my favorite online personalities, and his person for the monthly progress link-up from Fettle Those Finishes! 

Continuing weekly stats here for possibly linking up once a month with Kate at Life In Pieces. My 2021-2024 goal was to stitch at least 15-minutes 50% of the days in the year. Now, the goal is any number of minutes in a day for 50% of the year since the puppy is still under 2-years old he's a handful and I want as much time with him to enjoy our time together.

• Week 51: 4 of 7 = 57 %
• 30 minutes/day average across 7-days

• 85 minutes/day average across 3-days
• December 26 of 31 = 84 %
• 2025: 297 of 365 = 81 %

December has been an difficult month coming down with influenza and then my husband also getting sick with it. I cancelled attending several appointments, didn't attend the workshop to make the By Annie Pack It In and skipped my final MQG meeting with the Party (BOO HOO!). The dogs were great snuggling with me for 2.5 days when I napped most of the time. 

Sewing continues to be my solace. Focus continues slowly on my projects planned in 2025 see my Furtle planning post HERE.  

Projects Half Done Progress update:

There were 52 projects already started before January 1, 2025 (up from 46 in 2024). The below screenshot of my projects from the spreadsheet provided (and a little expanded) by QuiltingGail is my 'official' list with reference numbers used throughout the year.

As of December 31st, 20 projects have been completed (Blue Highlight), 3 UFO's and 17 new projects. 3 projects completed in December (Green Highlight on completion Date), 1 UFO's and 2 new projects. 2 projects progressed in December (Pink Highlight), 2 from UFO's and 0 new projects. 

How did sewing go?

December Projects Completed:

1) 2024 Honeybee Quilters Elfin Magic workshop projects:

1.1) Storage Pod (mitten fabric upper-right in photo), project 4 of 5, from the 2024 Honeybee Quilter's Elfin Magic workshop, part of 2025 UFO 46, completed in 1-hour and 56-minutes.

1.2) 2 Hemingway Pouches (candy canes at bottom of photo), project 5 of 5, from the 2024 Honeybee Quilter's Elfin Magic workshop, part of 2025 UFO 46, completed in 3-hours and 58-minutes.

All 5 projects together:

2) I've cancelled any more activities on the Big Stitch Sampler panel from the hand quilting program earlier this year with Jacksonville Modern Quilt Guild. I'm declaring this panel is now completed. Big Stitch Sampler Panel is 2025 Project 17 completed in 3-hours and 25-minutes.

3) Renaissance Ribbons kit for the Patterns By Annie bag using Tula Pink’s Tiny Beasts fabric line to make a Pack It In 2.0 as 2025 Project 28 completed in 15-hours and 43-minutes.

December Projects Progressed:

1) Moon Garden Smitten2 (2025 UFO 7): Block 6C progress, working on adding the final round of 6 striped diamonds. Pink Door Fabrics’ Moon Garden Smitten 2 is 2025 UFO 7, Month 6 in progress for 23-hours and 30-minutes out of 236-hours and 54-minutes on the entire quilt top.

2) Taking the momentum from finishing the Pack It In kit, the 2025 UFO 51 has been pulled out and restarted. First the front pocket panel needed to be quilted and here’s photos of the progress so far. Renaissance Ribbons kit for the Patterns By Annie bag using Tula Pink’s Moon Garden fabric line for Zip It Up 1.0 as 2025 UFO 51 in progress for 10-hours and 1-minute.
