One Monthly Goal - September 2026 Proposed

September is already underway and it's time to relax the goal with 4 quilts into the local Quilt Show. Time to set a new One Monthly Goal, if you want to check it out head over:

For September there are 3 goals that are important. First, there's a pile of mending for the household. Second, add a hanging sleeve to an older quilt to enter it in next year's show. Third, prepare for the sewing zoom workshop on October 3rd.

Goal 1: Mending

The pile of mending includes 2 towels, a bag strap, sweat pants inseam, laptop bag strap shoulder cushion and one of Hubby's t-shirts needs an applique over a bleach stain. I'm going to use a new product to me, featherweight interfacing to get the shape of the laptop bag strap pad.

I'm planning on using another penguin from the fabric like last time on this Colorado T-shirt for Hubby:

Mending is 2026 Project 21 in progress for 0-hours and 10-minutes.

Goal 2: Add Hanging Sleeve for QuiltFest 2027

Now that we've had Wiki for 2-years, I'm not as reactivated by the thought of letting Kipper's quilt out of my hands for a couple weeks to be judged and hang in the show. Adding a sleeve to Kipper's quilt is  2026 Project 22 in progress for 0-hours and 5-minutes. Kipper's Quilt doesn't have a sleeve right now, but it does have a label and the corners are hand-stitched closed.

The label includes fabric with an artist's rendering of Kipper running from a photo at a Whippet Race Meet:

Goal 3: Prepare for Orbital Workshop

The local MQG chapter is hosting a Zoom workshop by Geeky Bobbin for sewing the Orbital quilt pattern. There are several preparation steps to take advantage of this online workshop. My plan is to create the miniature size and submit it for the Quilt Show in 2027. Orbital Mini is 2026 Project 19 in progress for 0-hours and 5-minutes.

What are you working on in September 2026?
