15 Minutes To Stitch 2019 - Week 27

PLOT TWIST!!!
Hubby's surgery went incredibly smoothly on Monday. Unexpectedly on Tuesday, my 10-year old dog started to be lethargic. The vet diagnosed him with multiple organ cancer including lung and he was so stoic we didn't know it. By Friday his breathing was so labored we said goodbye that night. Kipper our 8 year old Whippet is doing okay without his big brother, but this week has been devastating to Hubby and me. I took vacation days Tuesday and Wednesday since I couldn't concentrate and took a little self time to sew as well as sessions to stroke Tux's ribs the way he liked.

Sewing Progress
It's a great idea to track my sewing time to provide motivation on my projects. Since I am a fan of Kate's Life in Pieces blog, her 15 Minutes to Stitch 2019 seems like the right thing to do.

My commitment started on Tuesday the 2nd of April, Stitching statistics as of Sunday, July 7:
  • Week 27: 3 of 7 = 43 %
    • 50 minutes/day average across 7-days
  • July: 3 of 7 = 43 %
  • 2019: 66 of 97 = 68 %
My goal is to sew more than 2 days/week (2 of 7 = 29%)

With the sick dog, I did simple work:

  1. Pressed the batting for Simply Sparkle Bliss
  2. Laid out the Sunny Days in Pinkerville and got the top center sewn

The layout picture was taken with daylight streaming through the skylights so it's more vibrant and beautiful than the picture when the blocks were all sewn. Picture taken upside down from the initial layout.

Last week Hubby and I decided this coming Thursday night, I would go across country to our destination state and with our new Real Estate Agent, tour the short list of houses that match our preference criteria with the idea of making an offer and getting the process started to purchase a house.

Not really sure what I will get done this week. Hoping to do some hand sewing on the plane so I need to get something ready, maybe Trixie & Thomas?
Trixie & clothes ready for precision cutting
Thomas & clothes ready for precision cutting
Next steps:
  1. Set & Press the row seams of Sunny Days in Pinkerville
  2. Roll Sunny Days in Pinkerville flimsy on a tube so it doesn't get lost in a bin or folded crease lines for the move
  3. Sandwich Simply Sparkle Bliss with 505 spray on Monday or Thursday while Hubby is away from home
  4. Prep hand sewing project for plane and evening time while away from home, if Trixie & Thomas:
    1. Precision cut body & clothing pieces
    2. Draw 1/4" sewing lines
    3. Thread needles & put in the 10 needle carrier
    4. Pack a carry-on friendly sewing kit
    5. Pack a checked bag sewing kit
  5. Remaining Simply Sparkle Bliss steps, is there any hope of finishing these AND packing up the rest of the house by the end of July?
    1. FMQ quilt center
    2. Quilt in the ditch both sides of the narrow inner border
    3. FMQ quilt outer border
    4. Square-up quilt
    5. Audition flange binding
    6. Make binding, hanging sleeve, & Label
    7. Attach binding to back & bring to front & machine sew in place
    8. Hand sew corners, hanging sleeve bottom & sides, and label top & side
    9. Photograph & blog

How are you doing with consistency this week?
