One Monthly Goal - April 2026 Proposed
Yea, April is here. Time to set a new One Monthly Goal, if you want to check it out head over:
For 2026, I am focusing on one main project and listing that as my OMG. April's goal is to complete the flimsy center for a Miniature quilt to submit to the QuiltFestJax show in September. The Miniature Quilt category needs at least 12 entries to keep it in the show. Last year there were less than 12 quilts; if that happens again this year then the category will be cancelled the following year. I've got one Miniature ready and this will be a second one! This quilt will be a Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 pattern, Tumbling Triangles. I’ve been wanting to make this pattern for 9-years since my first guild had a class that I couldn’t attend in June of 2017.
While the originally selected pink fabrics were pretty, I realized there wasn't enough contrast between the blue background and the flower matched pink for a 2-color pattern. Instead a Golden Yellow in the stash is a complimentary color to the blue fabric a print from my childhood so is a better selection. My Aunt sent me a box of quilting supplies including several yards of this blue fabric which included a stick on label with my parent's fabric store name and the price in my mom's handwriting. I cherish this fabric and the nostalgic experience.

All the strips and initial squares had been cut for this photo.
By April 1st all the triangles had been cut and sewing is already in progress with 3 of 25 four-patch blocks assembled, some in this photo:
Miniature Tumbling Triangles is 2026 Project 6 in progress for 11-hours and 38-minutes.
What are you working on in April 2026?

I really like the look of that Tumbling Triangles, it reminds me of an Escher painting. I think I might want to make this quilt as well. I'm looking forward to visiting at the end of the month to see it completed.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying this pattern out of Deb Tucker's Studio 180 and the V-Block ruler is so easy to use. Remember to add some kind of template stabilizer to the ruler so it doesn't slip on the fabric. I use First Aid Tape. Thanks so much!
DeleteI (of course) didn't know your parents owned a fabric store. How fun! What a special thing to find your mom's handwriting on the tag. Best wishes for your project progress this month.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Anne-Marie. I even have fond memories of being in the fabric store when I was 5 years old. Happy Stitching in April!!! Thank you for hosting the OMG!
