2019 Finish-A-Long Q1 Proposed Projects

Another quarter has passed and it's time to create a new proposed projects list. While I'm not expecting much sewing to happen in this quarter with finding a buyer for our home and finding a new one across the country, all my UFO's are going on this list just in case there's sewing time to get some things finished.

If you want to join in head over to one of the hosts blogs, Marci Girl Designs is one, to review the rules.

With 20 entries, I think that still qualifies me for the #ridiculouslylongFALlist gang for only 12-weeks to work on them in the quarter.

Entries List, all my UFO's listed by the start date:

1 - October 20, 2018 - Dimensional Pinwheel small quilt for donation

Dimensional Pinwheels quilt from Laura Ann Coia's SewVeryEasy  YouTube video.

2 - October 16, 2018 - QuiltSmart Midi Bag - Eerily Elegant Fabric Line

QuiltSmart printed interfacing panels are available from their website. Maybe I can use this as my purse during October 2019

3 - October 6, 2018 - RRQ Guild workshop with Lisa Calle - 9-patch quilting sample

Sample made for class and 3-levels of design on paper.

4 - September 15, 2018 - Marjan Kluepfel - Shimmering Dragonflies and Sparkling Flowers, AKA Dragonfly and Cat Tails

Workshop in Oaks, PA at Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza - I have the sparkly pieces for the dragonfly wings. The cattails are double-stuffed so they poof out a little.

5 - September 14, 2018 - Marjan Kluepfel workshop: Zen and the Art of Free Form Fiberscapes, AKA Free Form Tree

Workshop in Oaks, PA at Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza - I can't wait to start sewing this one. I had trouble with the Free Motion Quilting when I tried just the fabric, so I'm going to make a quilt sandwich just behind the tree with muslin backing and get the collage sewn down.

6 - September 13, 2018 - Primrose Cottage Quilts: Nesting Stars Sew Along using Me & My Sister's Badda Bing! fabric line

Still need to select fabrics and make the inner star from cut & bagged fabrics

7 - September 8, 2018 - RRQ guild workshop - Stack N Whack Fans with Maria Sendzik teaching from Bethany S. Reynolds' book Stack-N-Whackipedia

Found desired background at PA Nat'l Quilt Extravaganza in Oaks, PA, but had to order the rest online since the booth didn't have enough. Next step is to sew the fan's outline to all of them.

8 - August 23, 2018 - Quilted Ottoman Cover - my own pattern

Whimsical fabrics for a washable sturdy quilted ottoman cover - my first pass as the quilting did not go well, The sandwich was not flat and stable and it needs to be ripped out and restarted

9 - July 20, 2018 - Nancy Prince workshop: Enhancing a photo through Thread Sketching, AKA Izzy

Workshop in Hersey, PA at QuiltOdyssey - got a good portion done in class, but not quite there yet.

10 - July 19, 2018 - Nancy Prince workshopThread Painted Landscapes-Spring

Workshop in Hersey, PA at QuiltOdyssey - want to finish practicing Nancy's techniques to do my own Thread Painting designs

11 - April 28, 2018 - Bobbie Bergquist workshopHow to Make a 2-sided Quilt

Workshop in Edison, NJ with Mancuso - This may end up as a small donation quilt in the end

12 - January 2, 2018 - 2018 Monthly Color Challenge with Patterns By Jen

Block of the Month quilt, see Jen's blog for patterns & most recent year's BOM - I can't wait to finish this one and use it on my chair when watching TV. It's almost going to finish my 20-year old wedding quilt stash. Since I usually sew in the evenings, the picture here is dark.

13 - April 1, 2017 - RRQ guild workshop - Ribbon Weave Stack N Whack with Maria Sendzik teaching from Bethany S. Reynolds' book Stack-N-Whackipedia

Might have weave block side fabric needs setting triangles backing, etc.

14 - June 5, 2016 - RRQ guild workshop: Sherre MacClellan's Foundation Piecing Cross point quilt.

First block is together, have all supplies to complete 8 more which are in various stages. Also have all supplies to complete the quilt. If I can get the top together maybe I'll have someone else long arm it.

15 - January 16, 2016 - Learn To Quilt 2 class quilt at Fabric Inspirations (LQS closed) from Debbie Welch's Beginning Quilting by Machine - Advanced

The corners need to be re-sewn to flatten to be ready to sandwich & quilt. Don't know how I want to quilt it yet

16 - September 20, 2015 - Traded Half Square Triangles quilt

Have a design in mind, but no better picture of the pile of HST's. We made them and traded them at Fabric Inspirations (LQS closed)

17 - May 17, 2015 - Bandannas and Jeans quilt #1 from Mary Clare Clark's book Japanese Folded Patchwork: Techniques, Projects, and Designs of a Unique Asian Craft

Need to run a test with Flannel square as batting & jean square under folded bandanna sides. This quilt is why I bought a sewing machine in 2015 from a Local Quilting Shop and got hooked on this hobby.

18 - March 22, 2018 - Mary Smallegan Skillbuilders 1 & 2 cleaned up and bound for washing

From a great FMQ workshop, but needs finishing to be usable.

19 - August 2, 2018 - Pack-It-Up! Pouch #4

Pack-It-Up! bag #4 from the  workshop at AQS QuiltWeek in Lancaster, PA on March 23, 2018. Kate Collaran's bag pattern and braid template is available HERELeft Braid is made, need additional fabrics to complete this pouch.

Additional Entries List, projects with fabric supplies listed with purchase date:

20 - January 7, 2019 - Me & My Sister's pattern "Stacks!" using their "Frolic!" fabric line as in the pattern

Still waiting for the rest of the supplies, but they are all ordered & on the way.

  2. You've got some beautiful projects in the works. Hope you can carve out some time here and there to work on them. It's hard when you have a house on the market and even harder once it sells and you have to pack it all up and move it. Good luck with both the stitching and the household move.

  3. You've got lots of variety there! I can't imagine working on things while your house is on the market...I make such a mess and they always want you to keep things in tip top shape in case a buyer wants to stop by. Good luck on the house sale and the moving and on behalf of the entire FAL crew, thanks for participating!

    1. Thanks, Lynne. No much sewing going on here, but it's great to have a list 'just in case'. Lots of house fix-ups right now and boxing and cleaning spaces I didn't even know got dusty in 4-years.

  4. Such a variety of projects, although with a house to sell and another to find and buy you certainly could be forgiven for not pushing for finishes this quarter.
